Eric Engler serves as Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff for Ascension.

Eric Engler serves as Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff for Ascension. In this role, he provides leadership for the day-to-day operations and strategic evolution of Ascension’s Mission-inspired Transformation program. His responsibilities include oversight of the Transformation Design Teams’ efforts in designing and testing products, validating results, and developing implementation plans. He also leads the Ascension Transformation Office in providing strategic support to the Design Teams, championing agile ways of working, maintaining alignment of the work, managing risks and interdependencies, and monitoring progress and results. As Chief of Staff, Mr. Engler partners with the President and CEO to coordinate the activities of the Ascension Board of Directors, Ascension Leadership Team, Operations Leadership Team and Clinical Leadership Team to ensure alignment, integration and agile decision-making.

Mr. Engler previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Ascension. In this role, he served as the architect for Ascension’s strategy with responsibility for identifying opportunities and designing approaches to transform the organization and sustain its Mission.

Prior to joining Ascension in 2001, Mr. Engler served in financial planning roles for Reuters, plc, and Bridge Information Systems, Inc., both providers of financial market data services. Prior to that tenure, Mr. Engler served as a Transaction Services Director for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, leading merger and acquisition transactions for large public companies and private equity funds. Mr. Engler is also a former Equity Research Associate with Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc. in New York. He began his career in the Assurance and Business Advisory Services practice of Price Waterhouse.

Mr. Engler holds a bachelor’s degree with university honors in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana and a Master of Business Administration with honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He also is a graduate of the Ascension Leadership Academy and was a member of community 3 of the Ascension Executive Ministry Leadership formation program.
