Gerry Lewis serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Ascension, chair of the Ascension Technologies Executive Council and member of the Ascension Operations Leadership Team.
Under Gerry’s guidance, Ascension Technologies is building out the data exchange functions and foundational infrastructure that provide Ascension’s healthcare operations with a seamless, end-to-end technology experience for both patients and providers. His commitment to driving significant redesign and new strategic partnerships has redefined Ascension’s technology ecosystem. It now features hybrid, cloud-enabled architecture supporting information layer and cloud-native application development while maintaining a strong cybersecurity posture to protect data and other valuable assets. This highly responsive technology operational model drives improved service performance and scale.
Gerry’s previous Ascension roles include Vice President of IT Strategy and Business Development, Regional Chief Information Officer for the former West Region and Chief Information Officer for the Seton Healthcare Family in Austin, Texas.
He is an executive advisor to numerous organizations, including Salesforce, athenahealth, Google, Microsoft and AT&T. He also lends his expertise to the Scottsdale Institute, a not-for-profit membership organization of health systems and academic medical centers, as well as the Missouri operations of NPower, a group that helps launch digital careers for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities.
With a master’s degree in business administration from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, and a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin, Gerry’s career has also included an analyst role with the Central Intelligence Agency and leadership roles at computer companies Dell and Compaq.
Gerry and his wife, Debra, live in Austin. They have two adult daughters.
