The Ascension Health Ministry Service Center (MSC) in Indianapolis recently was honored for its commitment to excellence. The MSC provides shared services in the areas of human resources, supply chain and finance to the Health Ministries of Ascension Health.
The MSC won awards from the Shared Services & Outsourcing Network (SSON) for Excellence in Culture Creation and Excellence in Improvement & Innovation. SSON is the largest and most established community of shared services and outsourcing professionals in the world.
For the SSON’s Culture Creation award, the MSC was honored for its efforts to integrate a high-performance shared service center culture (demonstrated through a bias toward Client Centricity, Process Excellence and Service Orientation) within Ascension’s Mission-centric culture. The MSC showcased its commitment in connecting all associates to the deep, rich Mission of Ascension’s Founders and Participating Entities and shared its Mission, “Serving those who serve in our communities.”
For the Improvement & Innovation award, the MSC focused on its approach to workforce management and the implementation of its internally developed Production Excellence System (PES) and Time Capture (T-Cap). These tools allow the MSC to perform analysis of productivity at the activity level for both high-volume, highly repetitive processes (PES) and more highly variable interactive work (T-Cap), enabling the MSC to optimally staff to its work.
The MSC has been affiliated with SSON since it began operations three years ago. SSON awards are granted through a thorough peer review and judging process.
