Ascension Michigan launches next phase of rebranding

Ascension Michigan has taken the next step in integrating its brand across Michigan and creating a clear and consistent identity with the renaming of all Ascension hospitals in southeast Michigan.

“In September of 2016 we announced that we would unify our brand statewide. This was the beginning of our efforts to share best practices, enhance patient care and deliver greater value to the communities we serve. This rebranding is the next step in that transition to a unified brand,” said Joseph Cacchione, MD, President, Ascension Medical Group, and Interim, Ministry Market Executive, Ascension Michigan.

In the coming weeks, exterior and interior signage, and branded materials, will be updated with the Ascension name and logo at all Ascension hospitals and outpatient facilities in southeast Michigan. The new naming convention makes “Ascension” the first word in every name.

The renaming of Ascension Crittenton Hospital to Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital signals its formal transition to a Catholic hospital and means increased clinical integration, physician integration and service line integration with Ascension Providence Hospital. The Providence name has been familiar to metro Detroit since 1910 and has historical significance and a high-quality reputation.

Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital will be adopting the Ascension Mission; implementing a spiritual care program with chaplains available to tend to the spiritual needs of patients; establishing a vibrant ethics committee and educational programs; and participating in the Catholic Health Association’s Community Needs Assessment process; adding a chapel to the facility. It will continue to follow the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services while providing holistic, reverent care as a healing ministry of Jesus. These are just some of the actions that will specifically identify it as a Catholic health ministry.

The renaming of the remaining Ascension Michigan facilities across the state will be rolled out in subsequent phases. These facilities include Borgess Medical Center, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital and Borgess-Pipp Hospital in the Kalamazoo region; Genesys Regional Medical Center, serving the Flint/Grand Blanc area; St. Joseph in Tawas City; and St. Mary’s of Michigan with hospitals in Saginaw and Standish.
