Dan and Crystal McCahill's beautiful daughter Addi was born at St. John Hospital & Medical Center (SJMHC) in Detroit, part of Ascension Michigan, with a severe heart defect that required extensive medical care. Dan and Crystal still remember the struggle they went through watching and waiting for their daughter's health to improve.

As a tribute to their daughter, the McCahills started Addi's Smile, an organization that helps ease some of the stresses faced by parents whose child has a serious illness. Addi's Smile recently donated 50 care packages to the Mary Ann Van Elslander Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at SJHMC. The packages were filled with donated items parents need while spending hours at their baby's bedside, including toiletries, snacks and activities (card games, journals and puzzle books) as well as items for the baby such as stuffed animals, blankets and hats.

The recent donation is a token of appreciation from Addi's family for the high-quality, compassionate care they received from the physicians and staff at SJHMC.
