A special project to build an Indianapolis and Indiana sports-themed room at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, part of Ascension Indiana, was featured in a story broadcast recently on WRTV in Indianapolis.

The room is being constructed to honor Michael Wanser, a 6-year-old who “felt joy every day,” despite his illness, according to the report. Michael’s parents, Barry and Laurie, want the room to remind young patients that their “teams and their city are supporting them in their race to get better.”

Heather Escoto, MD, a pediatric hematology-oncology physician at the hospital, said the themed rooms are bright, uplifting, fun to look at, and built to be functional.

The new Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital ad campaign was also featured in the segment.
