Joe Impicciche, JD, MHA, President and Chief Operating Officer, Ascension, recently participated in a panel at the Scottsdale Institute 2019. He joined CEOs of Sentara Healthcare, Cedars-Sinai Health System and MedStar Health about retooling tomorrow’s health system.
The senior executives discussed the significant challenges and opportunities of the current healthcare environment, especially in regard to consumerism in healthcare. Joe discussed Ascension’s Mission-inspired Transformation and how some of its Design Teams, such as one focused on delivering the 2025 consumer experience, are actively working on information technology models of the future.
“The needs and expectations of those we serve, their families and our communities have changed. Consumers are applying experiences from other sectors of the economy and demanding the same convenience,” Joe said. “Instead of our traditional ‘transactional’ view, we want to reimagine healthcare as a journey. We want to know more about patients and providers to make that journey more seamless.”
He stressed Ascension’s ambition to lead change and thrive amid the changes and disruption taking place throughout the industry.
“Drivers of change and disruption in healthcare are coming at us from every front,” Joe said. “But despite market restructuring, the shift of value-based care, regulatory reform and other factors, Ascension is compelled to lead the transformation.”
Gerry Lewis, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Ascension, and President and Chief Executive Officer, Ascension Technologies, also serves as a Scottsdale Institute Advisor and participated on a panel titled Health System IT Structures of the Future.
