John Baird, ACHE, has been appointed President and CEO of AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center Chicago, a 345-bed facility serving Chicago’s North Side Lake View neighborhood.
In this role, John will develop and implement strategies to achieve continuous improvements in quality, patient satisfaction, efficiency and financial performance at the hospital. He also will be responsible for ensuring the successful integration of the hospital into AMITA Health’s organizational framework. AMITA Health is a Chicago-based joint operating company formed by Ascension and AdventHealth.
John comes to AMITA Health from Quorum Health Corporation, where he served as President and CEO of MetroSouth Medical Center, a 314-bed acute-care hospital in Blue Island, Illinois. Prior to that, he held a series of leadership positions with the former Presence Health, which became part of Ascension and AMITA Health in March 2018. Those positions included Regional President and CEO for the organization’s Northwest Chicago Region; and Executive Vice President and CEO of Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines, Illinois.
“John is a dedicated healthcare executive with extensive experience in leading hospitals, multifacility networks and post-acute services,” said Scott Teffeteller, Senior Vice President and Chicago Metro Regional Operating Officer, AMITA Health. “Having previously held several similar leadership positions with facilities that are now part of our organization, I believe he will be an asset as we move forward in framing the care provided to the residents of Chicago’s North Side.”
John serves as chair of the Investor-Owned Hospital Section of the Illinois Hospital Association. He holds a master’s degree in business and health administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, as well as a bachelor’s degree from Duke.
