Recently, St. Vincent Evansville, part of Ascension Indiana, celebrated with a blessing and ribbon cutting for the Patricia Browning Stone Sensory Playground at St. Vincent Center for Children.

This state-of-the-art, indoor/outdoor therapeutic sensory playground will help provide therapy for children who struggle with a variety of conditions such as sensory processing disorder.

At the Patricia Browning Stone Sensory Playground, children with sensory issues and other special needs will now be able learn, grow and play in an environment that provides them comfort and the ability to be themselves while receiving dedicated pediatric therapies.

St. Vincent Evansville teams worked with experts across the country to create a one-of-a-kind space that will serve as an extension of the hospital’s pediatric therapy services. The hospital is developing a therapy program tailored to the space so the equipment can be used to support patients in their continued development.

The playground is named in honor of the mother of Connecticut businessman Bill Stone, Patricia Browning Stone, a graduate of the St. Mary's School of Nursing. Bill and Mary (O’Daniel) Stone, both natives of Evansville, made a generous donation to fund the playground.
