How to Schedule appointments with veterans

Eligible veterans must contact Health Net or TriWest to obtain authorization for all care outside of VA treatment facilities. Third-party administrators (TPAs) are then responsible for coordinating all appointments with a provider’s office or facility.

Qualifying veterans must work with Health Net or TriWest to coordinate all appointments with a provider’s office or facility.

To make an appointment, a veteran must call the number on the back of his/her Choice Card 1-866-606-8198 to verify eligibility and obtain authorization. The VA will work with the veteran to ensure he/she is approved for care and schedule an appointment with his/her local Ascension provider. 

All care under the Veterans Choice Program is required to be preauthorized.

No payment will be made for services not authorized by VA and TPAs.

Once an appointment is arranged by the TPA, the provider must comply with the access to care standards as set forth in the TPA provider agreements.
