Crittenton Becomes Ascension Crittenton Hospital

Crittenton Becomes Ascension Crittenton Hospital

As it approaches its 50th anniversary, Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Rochester, Michigan, has become Ascension Crittenton Hospital, making it the first hospital in the country to adopt the new unified Ascension brand, naming and logo.

Last September, Ascension announced a significant transformation of its national structure and local identity to better connect every aspect of care and innovation across its care sites and subsidiaries. Over the next 12 months, other Ascension sites of care in Michigan will also be renamed.

“This is an important milestone in our One Ascension journey,” said Gwen MacKenzie, Ascension Healthcare Senior Vice President and Ascension Michigan Ministry Market Executive. “Ascension Crittenton Hospital is helping lay the foundation for our health ministry’s initiative to unite all of our local brands, names and care teams. This will lead to and reflect further collaboration among physicians and caregivers, locally and nationally, enhancing the care we provide to those we are privileged to serve.”

“By connecting the care we provide, we make it easier for patients and communities to find the care they need, when and how they need it,” said Ascension Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Nick Ragone. “You still see the doctor you know and trust, but now  you know your doctor is connected to other experts and specialists across the state and across the country, all dedicated to providing care specific to your individual needs.”

On August 15, 1967, the first patients were treated at Crittenton. Since that day, the hospital has provided a full continuum of high- quality clinical programs and services nationally ranked for excellence. Ascension Crittenton Hospital has a medical staff of nearly 500 physicians, representing a wide range of medical specialties providing primary, secondary and tertiary-level care. The hospital has newly renovated facilities and cutting-edge technology for providing patients the most advanced medical care on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

“This is an important step forward for our hospital and the communities we serve as we work to enhance our commitment to providing compassionate, personalized care for all,” said Margaret Dimond, PhD, President and CEO of Ascension Crittenton Hospital.

The major exterior hospital signage at entrances and in key internal areas has been changed to reflect the new name of the hospital. The rebranding will roll out in a phased approach in other areas over the next year.
