Ascension President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony R. Tersigni, EdD, FACHE, joined senior veteran healthcare officials and experts to explore the road ahead for strengthening the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system at the VA Healthcare 2016 Conference held in Arlington, Virginia, this week.
On Tuesday, Dr. Tersigni delivered a presentation, "Obtaining Healthcare through the Veterans Choice Program." He discussed Ascension's focus on delivering compassionate, personalized care to veterans, the method in which non-profit healthcare systems can augment the VA's ability to care for the nation's veterans, and Ascension's learnings, best practices and suggestions on how to improve access to care for America's veterans in the future.
Other topics covered during the conference included alternative/complementary medicine for veterans; alternative coverage options; post-traumatic stress disorder, invisible wounds and traumatic brain injury; and electronic medical records. The conference, which began Monday and concludes today, is hosted by the Institute for Defense and Government Advancement.
